Volunteer Opportunities

All volunteers must complete and submit a Duval County School Volunteer From. You must wear the SGCA Volunteer badge at ALL times whenever you are volunteering with the school. Application Forms can be obtained through the www.duvalschools.org website.
  • Vision Screening:  Volunteers are needed to assist the Duval County Vision Screening personal with guiding the students through this process.
  • Hearing Screening:  Volunteers are needed to assist the Duval County Hearing Screening personal with guiding the students through this process.
  • Cafeteria Duty:  Volunteers will help monitor and assist the students during the lunch periods.
  • Media Center Assistance:  Volunteers will assist the Media Center Specialist and clerk with a variety of duties before, during and after school.
  • Book Fair:  Volunteers will assist students while attending the book fair.
  • Monitor Peer Tutors:  This afterschool volunteer opportunity needs monitors to assist during the Peer Tutoring sessions.
  • Tutoring and Mentoring:  Volunteers are needed to provide students with extra help and guidance with subjects they need more practice with.
  • Front Office Assistance:  The volunteers are needed to assist the Office Personal in a variety of duties.
  • Reading Buddies:  This program needs volunteers to help the students with all things reading. This may be listening to a student read, asking the student questions about what they read, discussing books, or even reading to them. This is a wonderful opportunity that will help students develop a lifelong love of reading.
  • Room Parent:  The Room Parent, along with the Teacher, will help coordinate Classroom Volunteers and At-Home Volunteers.  They will assist in the planning of classroom activities.
  • Box Tops for Education:  Volunteers are needed to promote the program.  They will also be responsible for collecting and submitting the Box Tops for reimbursement along with notifying the school when there are special Box Top promotions throughout the year.
  • Copy Assistant:  This opportunity involves helping with making copies for school.
  • Dismissal:  Parents volunteer are needed to assist with the dismissal of students.  The volunteers will help maintain an orderly dismissal along with helping the students with pick-up.
